Quick stove-top Italian chicken casserole
Coat the bottom of a skillet with Wishbone Italian dressing. Marinade thin slices of left over chicken breast in the dressing. After a few minutes place the skillet over low heat. Top with cracker crumbs and a few lumps of butter or margerine. Sprinkle with parsley flakes and a little shredded mozarella cheese. Heat until sizzling and butter is melted, then serve.

My Number One Favorite Movie

This film gives a sense of chaos in its tight editing, rapid switching from scene to scene, images of children’s play, the chaos of a school playground, the fast forwarded construction of a dwelling, the ramshackle shelter of a playhouse made from cardboard boxes, and the sudden appearances and disappearances of a bank robber and various historic saints who put in their two cents.
The story is told from the viewpoint of a boy maybe eight or nine years of age. The profoundly sweet and pure spirit of the film is his, and it surpasses the vision of all other films in my experience. He has a true moral compass amid a great commotion over a bag of money and true faith in the face of his mother’s death. His older brother Anthony developed some cynicism and a hard edge in response to the loss of their mother, but Damien’s response was to become obsessed with a book on the lives of the saints.
As the story begins, they go often to watch the construction of the new dwelling where they will move. After the move, they go to a new school where Damien has some trouble fitting in. The father is encouraging and does his best by the boys, but when a bag of money falls out of the sky into Damien’s cardboard shelter, many problems ensue. Anthony insists on keeping the money a secret between the two of them.
The plot developments with the characters and interactions provide much humor. The bank robber provides danger and tension. But overall, Damien’s beautiful spirit provides enough faith and love to sort us all out.
